Rafael Ortega is one of the few things those who can frequent the frontera temporada
in Mexico can be thankful for. He appears with considerable frequency, and is
among the best active toreros in Mexico -- he has now won the "Oreja de Oro" in
Mexico City two years running ('96 and '97).
Rafael is not one to "cut corners" during his faenas ... and as a result,
it's not at all unusual to see him thrown or slightly gored during his sword
placement. Nor is it unusual to see him performing with his second bull, leg/groin
wrapped in white bandages and a bit of a limp.
Fortunately, the photos here were taken on a day when no "accidents" occurred.
